Dr. Barr has built a reputation over the years as a caring surgeon who pays meticulous attention to detail in the care and safety of his patients. He is devoted to the complete satisfaction of each patient and enjoys a cosmetic client base that continues to expand rapidly each year. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He currently serves as the Medical Consultant of SKIN MediSpa and is the Medical Director of Barr Plastic Surgery Centre in Sudbury.

During your body contouring consultation, Dr. Barr will conduct an examination and discuss all of the available options. He offers Ultrasonic liposuction, SmartLipo, Male Breast Reduction, Thigh, Buttock and Arm Lift and Body Contouring.

Dr. Barr attended medical school at the University of Toronto and earned his degree in Medicine in 1988. He completed internship and his Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario in London and received Plastic Surgery Specialist Certification in 1993. Pursuing his special interest in the area of Facial Reconstruction, Dr. Barr went on to complete an additional eighteen months of advanced training in Facial Reconstruction and Cranial Facial Trauma.

Dr. Barr moved with his family to Sudbury in January of 1995 to take advantage of its ample access to winter activities, beautiful lakes and family-oriented lifestyle. He opened his plastic surgery practice in 1995 at the Sudbury General Hospital , but soon experienced extensive waiting lists for his cosmetic procedures. Faced with limited resources within the Sudbury hospital system, Dr. Barr decided to establish Barr Plastic Surgery Centre, a fully accredited, state-of-the-art private operating facility. The first private clinic facility formally opened in January of 1998. Soon a larger location was required to accommodate an expanding client base and Barr Plastic Surgery was moved in 2005 to 205 Douglas Street Sudbury .

Dr. Barr's clinical interests continue to be focused on Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation and Reconstruction as well as Cosmetic Breast Surgery, Body Contouring and Hair Transplantation. He is invited to speak regularly on the latest cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures available, as well as aging and skin cancer, wound care and breast surgery. Dr. Barr is a lecturer for the University of Ottawa Family Medicine Program and is a past chairman of the Sudbury General Hospital Laser Committee. He was the former Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery (Sudbury Regional Hospital), as well as the former Chief of the Department of Surgical Subspecialties (Sudbury Regional Hospital).

The Barr Plastic Surgery Centre has been awarded accreditation by the CAAASF (The Canadian Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities) for meeting the standards of a hospital in regards to monitoring, emergency and resuscitation equipment. This accreditation also ensures that stringent standards are met in all operational aspects of the surgical facility, including qualification and certification of all medical staff. Barr Plastic Surgery Centre is the only fully accredited surgical centre in Northern Ontario.

All nurses at the Centre are registered with the Ontario Nurses Association. All anesthetists are board certified with privileges at major hospitals. The top priority of each staff member at Barr Plastic Surgery Centre is to ensure the highest quality of care and comfort for each patient during their visit.
